LIGHT

Light

Ghanshyam was filled with excitement as he gazed out of the window from high above, taking in the view from top to bottom. It was his first time flying, he had specifically requested a window seat and had called Indigo's call center multiple times to ensure he got it.

Ghanshyam was granted the initial opportunity to visit a client outside the state. He had a meeting scheduled with the client at 9:00 AM sharp in the morning. As a result, the company provided him with the chance to take a flight one day prior, but only after office hours.

He was very excited after getting the boarding pass, as it mentioned the seat number 19A. Eager to share his joy, he promptly updated his status on WhatsApp and other social networks. Due to work commitments, he had booked the flight for 9 PM, as he could only leave the office after 6 PM. Despite facing numerous challenges such as submitting his baggage, going through laptop checks, and enduring a bus ride after the security checks, these obstacles left him frustrated as he eagerly anticipated boarding the plane.

He eventually took his seat and noticed that everything appeared to be normal, despite the fact that it was already dark outside at 8:55 PM. However, his excitement grew as the plane began to taxi down the runway. Ghnashyam busily snapped photos and recorded videos of every little detail, he could capture.

The flight eventually ascended into the air and after a few minutes, settled in for the rest of the journey. He felt a rush of excitement as he peered out the window, but as the plane climbed higher, a particular thought kept crossing his mind. At that moment, he could see numerous lights scattered all around, but all seemed motionless, even some possibly moving on flyovers as well.

He snapped out of his reverie when his name was called twice, "Ghanshyam sir, would you prefer tea or coffee?" Two pleasant air hostesses stood by with the beverage trolley. Without hesitation, he replied, "Coffee, please." They promptly handed him the coffee along with a small refreshment pouch, and proceeded to the next passenger with the same question.

He placed the coffee on the tray and resumed his gaze out of the window. However, due to the dense fog, he could no longer see anything beyond. Suddenly, he dwelled in same thought that every single light was sparking and playing their role but nothing was moving. Ghanshyam's mind was preoccupied with something he couldn't quite comprehend.

Once more, he snapped out of his reverie with the familiar sound, “Anything for clearance, please.” Lost in his unwanted thoughts, he forgot to drink his coffee. He kept the pouch and handed over the full cup of coffee to them for cleaning.

Upon finishing all office tasks, he returned the following evening via an Indigo flight and encountered the same situation. There was still something lingering, prompting the same question.

The following day, he recounted the entire experience to his wife. During their conversation, he had an epiphany about what had been troubling him. The glimmer of the lights serves no purpose if they are not directed to the right location.

He conveyed to his wife, "Within us resides a multitude of personalities, possessing distinct knowledge, vast experiences, and some even blessed with wealth. However, unfortunately, in our community, a majority of individuals struggle to meet their fundamental life necessities."

Individuals who possess such talents and wealth have the ability to light those who are facing challenges. This could pave the way for significant progress in our society. This light can transform their lives, careers, and overall well-being.

Following the conversation, they gazed at each other in silence, mutually comprehending the path they were about to embark on in their lives.
